TFSON Academic Best Practice Spotlight Organization
.In March, 2012, Trent/Fleming School of Nursing (TFSON) was designated the first academic institution to become a Best Practice Spotlight Organization (BPSO); thus, given the title "Academic Best Practice Spotlight Organization (AcBPSO)". The title was awarded upon completion of three-years of candidacy work with the Registered Nursing Association of Ontario (RNAO). As a BPSO, the TFSON is invested in integrating BPGs into the curriculum, working with community partners on student/staff projects, monitoring student and faculty use of BPGs, disseminating information, and sustaining our academic BPSO position within the university and community partners.
Best practice guidelines are comprehensive documents that provides resources necessary for the support of evidence-based nursing practice. Each guideline is systematically created by a RNAO guideline development panel and guideline review team, and reviewed every three years. Successful integration of BPGs requires a collaborative effort of educators, clinicians, employers, policy makers and researchers.
Our Mission
In supporting the development and evidence based practice of nursing students, our organization aims to integrate and evaluate the process and effects of Best Practice Guidelines (BPG) adoption within the curriculum and clinical settings, and in collaboration with community partners.
